In Game 2 of the 2017 NBA Finals LeBron James played in the Nike LeBron Soldier 11. He used a predominantly Black colorway, but unlike the recently released Prototype makeup, which is all about stealth, his version had visible branding with hits of Gold and Red.

With the limited marketing approach implemented by the Swoosh for the Nike LeBron signature collection King James has become his main “head of sales”. He’s much more comfortable using the biggest stage for basketball like the All-Star Weekend or the NBA Finals to debut new products.

We used to get leaks straight from Nike factories in China. Now the very first pics come from or via The King. That’s how we were made aware of the existence of the LeBron 14 Low. That’s how we were introduced with the Soldier 11’s a couple weeks back. Back in the day, shoe collectors used to get their hands of Nike LeBron PEs… now the only person bragging with unreleased colorways is… LeBron James and the only close ups are provided by NBA photographers.

A couple days ago James wore the Nike LeBron Soldier 11 PE in practice. It was a brand new White and Lava / Hot Orange colorway. It’s definitely one of those colorways that makes heads turn. Again practice sessions between games and media availability encounters with reporters are currently the best way to promote products.
