Throwback Thursday: The Original LeBron VI aka Zoom Power »

We’ve all seen how Nike’s early product samples can change from prototype to the retail model, but the evolution of the Zoom LeBron VI was something entirely different. It was one of the most memorable model replacements in the footwear industry especially when we consider the Jordan line as the pioneer for all basketball signature series.

Nike put a great amount of effort into creating the Nike Zoom Power, which was the original successor of the LeBron 4 and 5 with the use of Foamposite material and the notion of continuing the footbucket approach to the design created by Ken Link. However, the call was made to fully re-design and there was very little time available because it was 2008… and LeBron had to be ready for the Olympic Games. 7 years passed and we still don’t know the reasoning, but what’s more tragic is the fact that Nike never decided re-visit the Zoom Power and make the release. I’m sure hardcore Nike LeBron fans would appreciate that move.

Last year we posted the Blackout colorway in great detail and now thanks to folks at nicekicks.com we get an up close look at the Navy colorway. All of the Zoom Power photos are available in the gallery for those who need to re-capture the magic that never was.
