Nike LeBron 15 ‘City Edition’ Hides a Secret Message »
One of the most interesting parts of signature sneakers are little hidden details that designers put out to be discovered by fans. Some of them are obvious, some of them are included in press releases, but some of them remain hidden for long.
Nike released the ‘City Edition’ of the Nike LeBron 15 last month. Personally, I think it’s one of the better looking colorways even though the job is easy because it’s difficult for find a bad looking LeBron XV.
One way to connect the “city edition” label to the shoe was Nike’s 4th set of NBA jerseys for each team. However, there’s something more. Each LeBron 15 colorway has a special tag on the inside tongue. Some have an additional gem located on the inside of the heel tab. In this case it’s “1927”, which after an inside scoop (see my Instagram page) turns out to be a reference to the Hope Memorial Bridge – date of build. That bridge has several pairs of statues on it called the guardians and folks at Nike looked at LeBron James and the Cavs as the guardians of The Land. So there you have it… a truly “City Edition” of the LeBron 15… fully discovered.
