LeBron James will wear a special version of his Nike Zoom LeBron VI sneakers tonight in celebration of his MVP award. The Cavaliers will play the Atlanta Hawks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. The shoes don’t go on sale until the end of this month, but fans will receive “Witness MVP” placards tonight, provided by Nike. Btw… according to Nike Blog “The Witness MVP shoe will be available soon at Nikestore.com and House of Hoops locations” so keep your eyes peeled for another four weeks. Below, there are couple new pics as well as some background information about the MVP Six courtesy of solecollector.com.

Nike Basketball will be celebrating LeBron’s accomplishment with a special MVP edition of his signature Nike Zoom LeBron VI. While the model was designed by Ken Link, the MVP version’s styling can be attributed to Nike Basketball Footwear Graphic Designer Erick Goto, who took into account everything that King James poured into this season. “The crackle texture on the materials are meant to pay tribute to the grind of the 82 game season and the hard work LeBron put in with his team to have a great season,” explains Goto. With a white/black/metallic gold colorway, the MVP VI is certainly set off by its graphic application of the famed ‘WITNESS’ font, which can be found most prominently along the forefoot toe cap support overlay, as well as along the inner collar. The deftly earned ‘MVP’ tag is seen replacing the LJ23 logo at the lateral collar tab, and the shoe is full of added details throughout, with a metallic gold crown at the base of the eyestay, ‘WITNESS’ once again along the heel pull tab, and metallic gold flakes found sprinkled throughout the translucent outsole. While this edition is certainly meant as a collector’s item, the Zoom LeBron VI still offers unmatched casual comfort should you decide to wear them, with its responsive 6mm full-length Zoom Air unit and additional 6mm heel Zoom Air unit embedded in double-stacked fashion. For Goto, the goal of giving the shoe a gritty feel that embodied LeBron’s get-after-it mentality all season long was definitely a priority while crafting the project. “The leather on the quarter and the vamp are meant to represent the ‘chalk settling’ to the hardwood at the end of the regular season,” Goto reveals. “It was important that the shoe looked great, but in order to have true character, it was equally important for it to not look entirely pristine.” The result is an upper that delves a bit deeper in the texture department than any other previous LeBron VI colorway, and the shoe is also well balanced with its high-gloss crackled black and white leather that can be found along the midsole and binding.
