The Ohio State University was one of the first schools equipped by Nike’s LeBron brand. It was in fact the first college team to sport the famous L23 logo on their uniforms, and shoes, of course. However, this year a strange thing has happened. After repping the OSU with several insanely hot colorways each season, Nike “forgot” to make them a Special Make Up of the Air Max LeBron VII. The Buckeyes were “forced” to wear the White/Red NFW GR. Some of their players, who were a little bit more creative laced up the Grey/Crimson TB, but without any team logo. Despite that we decided to include the VII in The Collection, but that felt weird. Anyway, we’re glad that someone has decided to track down every single pair of the OSU’s. His name is Zach and you might have seen his work. It’s pretty impressive. Continue reading for more photos.

Baseball cleats occupy a big part of the shoes industry, especially in the U.S.A. They have their own line of sneakers, including several signature models. However, every now and then they borrow some designs from basketball and make them into cleats. For example the Nike Huarache 2k4, which was a big hit on the ballpark. During his short baseball career Micheal Jordan has had a lot of his shoes transfered into cleats. Seems like Nike has tried that for LeBron James too as photos presenting his Zoom Soldier “cleated” have surfaced the Internet. The result… it looks very interesting, but see for yourself after the break.

One of three currently featured themes in The Collection is the Ohio State University. OSU has been very special for Nike & LeBron. After all that’s where LeBron would play if he hadn’t made an instant jump into the NBA. Also, you gotta love their shoes simply because their native Grey & Red colors are a treat to look at. Although the OSU theme has started along with the Zoom LeBron IV, it’s their second shoe that’s is the hardest to get. The Nike Zoom Soldier Away Edition in OSU’s Red / White / Silver, doesn’t even feature the “O” logo anywhere on the shoes, but the Buckeyes did wear them a lot. Continue reading for more photos.

Although LeBron James hasn’t fully committed to playing some USA Basketball this summer we would love to see him continue his support to the country. After all, playing on an international stage with the biggest names around you is what allows basketball to expand its borders. For us sneakerheads it also means more shoes. The U.S.A. squad has already redeemed themselves after winning the Olympic Gold, but they still need to avenge the loss in the 2006 FIBA World Championship. LBJ has a lot of nice kicks in Olympic/USA colorways and the one you see below is one of the rarest as it’s the first time they are posted online. Back in 2007, Nike released the Navy/White/Red Zoom Soldier to public. We have already profiled one of King James’ Player Exclusives, but it was the same as the GR plus some special USA logos. He wore that in the State Farm Challenge in Las Vegas. Finally, when the 2007 FIBA Americas started for good he switched to the other PE, which apart from the USA logos featured a different color blocking. If you’d like to get a pair be sure to visit eBay as one pair in LeBron’s size (16) is available for purchase. Continue reading for more photos.

This shoe is a legend. There were so many rumors about the existence of a so called Hardwood Classic Zoom Soldier I that people have wondered if they’re true at all. Fortunately, LeBron James is currently in his HWC mojo, rocking two different shoes in the last couple games, but what’s even more interesting… he used a pair of Zoom Soldiers (first edition) during his pre-game warm up at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon. So this is how the HWC Nike Zoom Soldier Player Exclusive has finally leaked to the Internet. It’s reminiscent of LBJ’s Playoffs/Finals PEs with a similar color blocking, but again the theme used here features those popular Royal Blue/Orange/White colors. What do you think about these shoes? I have a feeling we’re gonna see more detailed pics very soon. Info via NikeTalk.

New Wizards forward Mike Miller recently wore LeBron James’ Nike Zoom Soldier III kicks to practice and was told (jokingly, we think) by teammate DeShawn Stevenson, “We don’t wear these around here.” James response? Whatever, dude.
“We already have a war against them, he can’t wear that,” longtime James agitator DeShawn Stevenson told the Washington Post. But Miller had his reasons.
“When you’re unathletic and white like me, you got to have the lightest shoe out there,” Miller told the newspaper. “They feel good on my feet.” James and Miller have been friends for years and James has been getting a laugh out of the quotes. “He’ll wear them,” James said. “He said for a white, unathletic guy he’s got to have the best shoes. And I agree with that.”
“Mike is a good friend of mine,” said James. “He named his son after my best friend, Maverick (Carter). We have a good history.” James said Miller should lace up his sneakers, though. Bonus video “Blow the Whistle” by Jay-Z after the break.

The shoes you see below were introduced way back at Nike’s Future Footwear presentation during the 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas. Since then… any trace of the shoe has simply vanished. Featuring White, Purple and Gold colors the Nike Zoom Soldier is one of those rare samples that has never made it into production. If you look closely at the tags it comes from Nike’s Pou Chen factory in Taiwan. Pou Chen Corp., a major Taiwanese transnational shoemaker, opened the factory in 1993 at a cost of $100 million and produces more than a million shoes a month exclusively for Nike. Some of the rarest kicks with the Swoosh logo are made there. Too bad we don’t get to see most of them. More photos after the break.

There’s always some controversy around Fairfax LeBron sneakers and that was exactly the case when this shoe hit House of Hoops back in 2007. It was the first and the last shoe featuring the Fairfax logo that was released to public. Shortly afterwards a bunch of logo-less samples were made, but they were too late to replace them at the HOHNY. The reason for that mishap was lack of a legal agreement with the California Federation of High Schools. Anyway, seems like another version of the Fairfax Nike Zoom Soldier exists. This one comes with the logo, but has a Patent Leather toebox. Nowadays only Lions’ basketball players get the Fairfax’s, but it’s still one of my favorite themes in the LeBron James collection.
