The Miami Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 Thursday in Game 5 of the NBA Finals to capture the 2011-12 championship. LeBron James had a triple double with 26 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds in a Finals-MVP winning performance. LeBron’s triple-double is the first in a Finals closeout game since Tim Duncan in 2003. Finally, the King has earned the crown. LeBron’s first bucket was a roaring dunk on a fast break and the last chapter of his redemption tour took off from there. James squashed the demons of NBA Finals’ past and destroyed the Thunder with every assisted 3-pointer and hanging finish. James’ all-around Game 5 reminded everyone why he’s this generation’s most gifted player.
