LeBron James’ 2009 NBA All-Star Jersey and Shoes »
Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James has been voted as a starter to the 2009 Eastern Conference All-Star team by the fans, it was announced last week by the NBA. James finished with 2,940,823 total votes. “The All-Star Game is always so meaningful to me because of the fans,” James said. He joins Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and Yao Ming as the only four players to have been selected as starters for each of the last five All-Star Games. Also, the 2009 All-Star Game jerseys have been unveiled. The correlation between LeBron’s Zoom LeBron VI ASG shoes (pictured below) is obvious now. The 58th NBA All-Star Game will take place in Phoenix, AZ on Sunday, February 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Fans tuning into T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on TNT will also get a special treat, as LeBron James, a participant in the 2004 and 2005 T-Mobile Rookie Challenge, will join Kevin Harlan, Kenny Smith and Craig Sager as part of TNT’s broadcast as an analyst. By the way… for the first time in the game’s history, two current NBA players, All-Star starters Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic and Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat ? veterans of the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and part of T-Mobile’s “All-Star Faves” ? will serve on the coaching staffs, Howard for the Sophomores and Wade for the Rookies.
About the jersyes: The NBA All-Star uniform features a number of technological enhancements and was in development for over two years by adidas. The uniform is 30 percent lighter than a traditional basketball uniform and features adidas’ Formotion technology which reduces seams, decreases friction and optimizes the player’s natural movement. The jersey has strategically placed ClimaCool zones which conduct heat away from the body through a combination of ventilation channels, three-dimensional fabrics, and materials that disperse heat and moisture. The uniform design was inspired by the aesthetics and history of the city of Phoenix with colors representing the earth, desert, sun and sky. The design elements will be integrated throughout the entire adidas NBA All-Star on-court and fan apparel collections. The jerseys feature various shades of horizontal lines that resemble Arizona’s iconic rock formations. The flame design on the shorts represents the story of the mythical bird, the Phoenix, for which the city is named. Holding with recent tradition, the All-Stars from the host team’s conference will wear white uniforms. The West All-Star uniforms will be white, gold and desert red, a color scheme inspired by the colors of the 2009 NBA All-Star logo and the uniforms of the host team Phoenix Suns. The East All-Star uniforms will be navy, silver and sunset blue. Source: Cavs.com.
