LeBron and Delly Carry Cavs to Grab 2-1 NBA Finals Lead over Warriors »
The Cleveland Cavaliers lead the 2015 NBA Finals two games to one after a 96-91 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 3. LeBron James finished with 40 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. He set the NBA Finals record for most points in the first three games of a series. His 123 points are one more than Rick Barry scored in the first three games of the 1967 Finals.
The unlikely hero of the Finals, Matthew Dellavedova, who averaged 4.8 points per game during the regular season, finished with 20 points, one shy of his career high. He’s totaled 29 points dating back to the start of the fourth quarter of Game 2. James and Dellavedova combined to outscore the Splash Brothers, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, 60-41. In fact, James came within one point of matching Curry and Thompson’s total himself.
Cleveland led by 20 in the third quarter, but Golden State did make a run in the fourth behind a scoring flurry by Stephen Curry. The league’s MVP finally found his shooting touch and connected on five 3 pointers in the fourth quarter as the Warriors got within 3. Fortunately some clutch free throws from King James and solid Cavs’ defense were once again key to the very important Game 3 win.
James wore a new LeBron 12 Elite PE in the first half of the game, but switched to the Cavs-inspired “Witness” colorway of the regular version in the second half.
