LeBron and Shaq’s Debut as Teammates. Think Pink ZS3 on Court. »

So much for getting to know each other. The LeBron and Shaq Show is off and running. NBA icons, All-Stars and A-plus-list celebrities LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal made their debut as Cleveland teammates on Tuesday night and had immediate chemistry in the Cavaliers’ 92-87 preseason-opening victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. James and O’Neal worked several pick-and-rolls, showing off a two-man game that with a little polish could be unstoppable. “Me and Shaq played pretty well together,” James said. “It shouldn’t be hard for either one of us. We know how to play basketball and we want to win.” James, wearing a pink pair of his signature Nikes – Zoom Soldier III – for breast cancer awareness month, scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting in 14 minutes. O’Neal, who said his goal is to “win a ring for the King” in Cleveland, scored six points and added three rebounds and a block in 15 minutes. Neither played in the second half.

LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal – NBA 09-10 Media Day »

Mike Brown still can’t believe he is coaching two superstars. LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal have practiced together for only couple days. Despite the small sample size, Mo Williams has seen enough to expect the 7-foot-1 O’Neal will blend nicely with James. The Cavaliers hope O’Neal is the answer to the team’s post problems after Cleveland won a franchise-best 66 games during the regular season, but failed to get past Orlando and Dwight Howard in the Eastern Conference finals. “It’s a little weird seeing two of the best out on the floor at the same time, but they’re both very good guys first of all,” Brown said. “Both have great personalities and both want to win. They seem like they fit. They seem like they’ve been together for a while. It’s been entertaining to say the least.” The Cavs’ locker room was even shuffled to be able to give O’Neal and James, who get a great deal of media attention, enough space without bothering teammates. James asked if he called friend Wade or Kobe or any of O’Neal’s former teammates said “He’s going to be a teammate,” James said. “It’s not like I’m adopting a child.” See their first photos on Cavaliers uniforms from NBA’s 2009-2010 Media Day. Btw… LBJ sported the Zoom Soldier III instead of the upcoming Air Max LeBron VII.
