Throwback Thursday: Nike Zoom LeBron V All-Star Game Exclusive »

The All-Star Weekend is getting closer. We’ve already profiled LeBron James‘ All-Star Game shoes for the festivities in Dallas – the Nike Air Max LeBon VII – numerous times. Some of you are probably starting to receive their shipments from NDC and Eastbay. From what I hear the shoes are amazing in person. Today we want to take a look back at on of the previous ASG shoes from the Nike LeBron collection. It’s the Zoom LeBron V in Blue, Silver, and Red. It’s the one worn by King James on his way to his second All-Star Game MVP award back in 2006. One more interesting note… the All-Star V’s are almost 1.5 ounce lighter than the regular model. Continue reading for a detailed showcase.

Throwback Thursday: Zoom LeBron V Home PE “Velvet” Gold Laces »

During the 2007-2008 NBA Season, LeBron James laced up only two Player Exclusives of the Nike Zoom LeBron V (Cavs’ HWC and Home PEs). Below there’s one of them. Back then we didn’t get to see any White and Red based colorways reach the public. They were reserved for King James only. We profiled the Home Suede ZLV PE couple years back, however, when I was given a chance to re-take some photos of my LeBron shoes I didn’t have to think twice. Actually, it’s probably the most special pair from my personal collection (kudos to Nike for help!). You probably have seem them equipped with a pair of Crimson laces, but for this showcase we did a switch to alternative Gold strings. The Velvet LBJ5′s feature Cavs’ native – White/Crimson/Gold – team colors. LeBron’s LRJ logo is placed on the back of the shoe marking this Player Exclusive version. Be sure to check out all 20+ new photos. There are some nice shots after the break.

Throwback Thursday: LBJ5 New York Yankees Signed by Spike Lee »

Those who have been following LeBron long enough, and even those who are new to the game, know about his special relationship with the city of New York. Since King James’ 4th season Nike debuts one or even more NYC themed kicks, each season. I like to think it has more to do with a high demand for kicks in the Big Apple more than LBJ’s desire to play for the Knicks. Let’s do some math. One ZLIV (Graffiti), Two ZLV’s (Yankees, Mr. Basketball), and Three ZLVI’s (White/Navy GR, Big Apple, Taxi). If Nike is going to follow up this pattern we can see a lot of NYC shoes in the upcoming months including this special low top version. So far we’ve had two (White/Navy, and MTAG NY). One of most memorable shoes from the group was definitely the New York Yankees edition, which was the first one to reach the public on a large scale. For our last post in 2009, let’s take a closer look at this special make up featuring Spike Lee’s autograph, who’s been know to wear a lot of LeBron James’ sneakers. Happy New Year!!!

Throwback Thursday: Nike Zoom LeBron V Hardwood Classic PE »

On December 2nd, 2009… LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers wore special Hardwood Classic jerseys as their tribute to the 1988-89 squad. LBJ broke out the HWC Nike LeBron VII for the occasion, but that’s not the fist time he laced up his Royal Blue / Orange sneakers. Recently we profiled the HWC themed Zoom LeBron IV from the 2006-07 season, but probably the least known Hardwood Classic shoe is the one you see below… Nike Zoom LeBron V. All his previous NYK-colored shoes were Player Exclusives so a possible release of the HWC AMLVII seems unlikely at the moment. However, Nike likes to surprise their fans and everything is still possible so let’s have faith.

Throwback Thursday: Nike Zoom LeBron V Fairfax Away PE »

The Nike Zoom LeBron V is one of those shoes that doesn’t get enough credit in my humble opinion. Maybe the old truth that basketball shoes need to possess a lot of casual appeal to become successful applies here. I mean… sure it’s hard to rock them off the court, but Nike delivered on their part coming through with many nice colorway options. Also, it was weird to see the White and Navy colorway to take the spotlight, but I think it was the right call at the time being. Basketball-wise the V was and still is awesome. If I had to point the most versatile shoe for playing ball I wouldn’t even blink twice… the ZLV is the truth. No matter what’s your position or what is your style of play… LeBron’s 5th sig shoe never disappoints. For today’s post we look back at the Fairfax Player Exclusive, which never dropped to public, but it’s sooooo nice.

When All-Star Meets Mr Basketball – New Zoom LeBron V PE »

Last week we profiled an unreleased sample version of the Nike Zoom LeBron V… courtesy of lacedheat. The thing about the ZLV was Nike released a relatively small number of PEs (Player Exclusives). We’ve been used to tons of colorways, samples and Special Make Ups, but LeBron James’ fifth signature shoe has leaked in only 36 different models thus far. Apart from General Releases, couple really nice Exclusives (Mr. B, Yankees) and “common” School PEs, only a couple of V’s really stand out – Home PE (both versions) and Hardwood Classic PE. Sure, it’s not like the Zoom LeBron V had the colorway potential comparable with The Six, but it seemed a little odd. Today, we are happy to discover yet another rare ZL5. We don’t know what was the story behind this model, but it seems like the Mr. Basketball has been mixed up with the All-Star edition. You can see Mr B’s lasered upper and ASG’s color scheme. Do you like the output?

Unreleased Friends & Family Promo Sample – Nike Zoom LeBron V »

“Originally Created in 2007 this edition of the Nike Zoom Lebron V was an extremely limited edition and were only made available to friends and family. These shoes come in the Black and Gold N.O. colorway.” This is how eBay seller lacedheat described this unseen before Nike Zoom LeBron V colorway. It’s no secret there are tons of LeBrons that are unlikely to leak to the Internet, however, once in a while it happens… out of nowhere, just like that. This new ZLV features a predominately Gold upper with Black accents on the toe area, straps, laces and outsole. Also, it has an interesting pattern on the upper, but in general the whole composition is not right. Something just doesn’t add up and the shoes look weird. Or maybe that’s due to bad quality pics?! That’s probably the reason why some would think this is a fake, but all signs in the sky suggest otherwise. Do you like this special ZLV? What are your thoughts?

Part Two… Detailed Shots of LeBron James’ Zoom LeBron V Home PE »

Let’s get into the details. Yesterday we profiled the Suede Zoom Lebron V personalized for LeBron James himself. Today we bring lots of close-up shots. The attention to details is amazing… Click the pics to enlarge. The photos after the jump are in wallpaper sizes so feel free to use them if you like.
