Recap from Nike X LeBron “More Than a Game” Event in Beijing

NBA MVP, LeBron James, and Chinese hoop fans gathered at Beijing Chaoyang Stadium on August 24, 2009, to celebrate the transformative power of basketball as part of James’ World Tour. Beijing, the host of last year’s Olympic Games, is the first stop for the China leg of the world tour which covers three cities including Shenyang and Shanghai. The Chinese capital is also the fourth stop on the world tour, after Chicago, Washington D.C. and Akron in Ohio, which will span three continents over two months focusing on empowering youth, community service, grassroots basketball activities and the introduction of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII. More than 1,200 Chinese basketball fans are expected to turn up for the consumer event where they will be inspired to work hard to improve their skills, never give up their vision of becoming great players and serve their community through sport. As part of the community celebration, James was presented with an exclusive pair of Nike Air Max LeBron VII’s featuring a Beijing-inspired design dubbed “Tradition” created by local artist Li Qiuqiu. During the event, James demonstrated his versatile basketball skills to 23 pre-selected kids from NIKE All Day Outdoor Basketball training activation program. The session did not only provide a great summer experience for the kids but also a chance to be inspired by LeBron James himself.
