TBT: Nike Zoom LeBron II Maple Gum PEs – Suede Alternate

LeBron’s Nike relationship was ready to kick into 2nd gear for 2004 with the his second signature shoe, but the first one named for the budding superstar, the Nike Zoom LeBron II. Building off of the comfort requirements of LeBron for his previous signature shoe, Nike noticed that LeBron’s foot lockdown needed some tweaking for the next generation. With the addition of a Xytel midfoot shank for stability and a removable ankle strap for support, the Nike Zoom LeBron II could enable the wearer extreme comfort on the floor through stability. Comfort, explosiveness, and control had now become the standard. Nike prepared a lot of great colorways for the LeBron 2, but most of them were Player Exclusives. Here’s one of the better ones… the popular Gum Sole. However, this Nike Headquarter unreleased promo sample is different from the previous Gum PEs featuring a Suede upper. All in all, there are 4 different versions: leather with brown crown (#1), leather with gum crown (#2), mesh (#3) and this newly discovered suede upper (#4). Continue reading for a better look.
