Jared Cunningham was originally drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft but then the Cavs traded his rights. Now with the team, Cunningham is a solid shooting guard with superior athleticism and volume scoring ability. Currently he’s getting some big minutes due to other teammates’ injury problems.
Apart from his solid play one other things stands out… his shoe game is always on point! In a recent interview with ESPN he mentioned his sneaker collection, which stands 1,600 pairs and counting. Apparently he’s implemented the classic sneakerhead apporach to buying kicks… “I always try to get two pairs of the shoes. I’ll play in one and then keep one. Sometimes I’ll even get three pairs,” he added.
“The Generation one’s that (James) has,” Cunningham said are his favorite pair. “I have about seven pairs of them. I might wear the black ones this year. But, the wheat ones, the All-Star ones, I’m going to have to keep on ice.” He joked that he might even try to get James to sign them. On the court, Cunningham’s favorite pair of LeBron’s to play in are the “3’s.”
Cunningham has already laced up the Zoom LeBron 3, 4 and 20-5-5 and the “HWC” Nike Zoom LeBron 6 when the team sported their throwback colors. LeBron James also uses his old kicks, but that’s literally once-in-a-season type of thing so it’s very refreshing to see Jared bring on the heat night in and night out.
