A very limited run of the “Black Rubber City” LeBron XII EXT was released last month, but a wider launch is scheduled this month on April 25th. All “Rubber City” LeBron 12’s are inspired by Akron being the “Rubber Capital of the World”. The American trucking industry was birthed through Akron’s Rubber Capital of the World era when the four major tire companies Goodrich Corporation (1869), Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company (1898), Firestone Tire and Rubber Company (1900), and General Tire (1915) were headquartered in the city. The “Rubber City” LeBron 12 certainly looks like a shoe made from tire. Suede panels, clear outsole and shiny Silver Swoosh add a more luxurious feel to it. Personally, I like the backstories on both Wheat and Rubber City designs, which compared to the EXT series of last year have much more meaning. Will you be picking up a pair later this month?
