Last month LeBron’s alma mater Saint Vincent Saint Mary won the Ohio State Championship. King James was on hand to witness the victory rocking a green Fighting Irish varsity jacket. During the first half, he stood and leaned across to listen to his former coach, Dru Joyce II, speak to the team during a timeout. During a halftime ceremony, James was inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Assn. Circle of Champions, an award given to top athletes and coaches who participated in prep athletics in the state. The SVSM Varsity jacket looks like something you could get at your high school… except it’s from Nike. These jackets will be available at FootLocker’s House of Hoops, but the release date remains unknown. Btw the retail is $110.
When the Fighting Irish won its Div. II title on 3/28/09, SVSM alum and Cleveland Cavaliers’ star LeBron James was sitting in the first row behind the bench and joined in the celebration after the victory – the first title for the school since he won three before graduating in 2003. The title was the fifth for SVSM, tying the Irish with Columbus East for the second-most in Ohio. Middletown leads with seven. The Irish have won championships in Class AA in 1984 and in Division II in 2000, 2001 and 2003. They also finished as a runner-up when James was a junior in 2002.
