Complex’s expert sneaker panel, including DJ Clark Kent, Matt Halfhill of NiceKicks.com, Mayor, Chris Vidal of Alife, and Wil Whitney of 21 Mercer, along with Complex’s Joe La Puma and Bradley Carbone, debates the year’s best kicks. Apparently the Nike Air Max LeBron VII beat other opponents such as Kobe IV, Air Jeezy, and even the Space Jams. As you can see in our poll on the left, our readers voted the launch colorway the best… and in our previous survey over half of LeBron-heads chose the VII as the best Nike LeBron shoe ever. That’s a lot of praise.

After a lot of back-and-forth, and narrowing down of the list, the Lebron VII was the #1 pick out of this year’s best sneakers. The seventh signature shoe King James was blessed with, was a special one for a few reasons. The Flywire upper and the Max Air airbag unit was near-revolutionary when it came to comfort in a basketball shoe, and from an aesthetic standpoint, the sneaker didn’t disappoint either. Nike dropped sick colorways from the jump, and as you’ll see in the video our panel felt strongly that this was one of the rare basketball sneakers that looked as good off the court, as it did on-court. Check the video below to see exactly why it landed at #1
