It’s no coincidence that LeBron James was chosen to advertise the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+ – the first Nike shoe to feature the new Nike+ Basketball system. It’s also no coincidence that his new signature shoe – the Nike LeBron X – is the first signature shoe that comes with the same Nike+ option. LeBron is currently in his prime and after a legendary season has strengthened his position as the #1 face of the Nike brand. Apart from having all kind of metrics inside, the new Hyperdunk is still a great shoe that’s worth checking out. It brought the Lunarlon into the world of basketball and finally exposed the Flywire threads. King James wore the USB version in London, but Nike launched the shoe with a Black, Purple and Blue colorway. I like to think it’s a Hornets colorway. It is an amazing looking shoe. Usually LeBron’s Summit Lake Hornets are very bright and even too bright at time, but these were executed flawlessly.

LeBron James already changed the NBA’s power structure this year and now he’s gone international. A triple-double from LeBron in a record-setting night and 20 points from Kobe Bryant, including four straight 3-pointers in a 67-second span in the fourth quarter, helped the U.S Olympic Men’s Basketball Team (6-0) overpower Australia (3-3) 119-86 to advance to the semifinals of the 2012 Olympic Games on Wednesday night at the North Greenwich Arena in London, England. With 11 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists, James totaled the first triple-double in Olympic history. Leading by one point after the first quarter, the U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball Team (1-0) rode a red-hot second quarter shooting streak to a convincing 98-71 win over France (0-1) to open its play in the 2012 London Olympics on Sunday afternoon at the Olympic Park Basketball Arena in London, England. Nine points and eight assists from LeBron James (Miami Heat) helped the USA to record 27 assists on 31 made baskets. With First Lady Michelle Obama in the stands, all 12 U.S. players scored in the game. LeBron wore the new Nike Lunar Hyperdunk in an all new USAB colorway.

This summer, Nike Basketball is introducing the new Nike+ Basketball system along with the new Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2012. To celebrate Nike’s innovative technology they’ve started a worldwide dunk contest. To enter, you have to use your phone to record and complete the digital challenges. Over the course of the summer, 16 finalists will advance, with only one being crowned the champion by King James himself.

LeBron James has recently unveiled his two USA Basketball inspired shoes – Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2012 and Nike Zoom Soldier VI. Even though he might start his 2012 Olympic Games campaign wearing the new Hyperdunk, he definitely won’t be wearing the General Release model. As you can see on the photos below, King James has been wearing a Player Exclusive version with his new signature logo placed on the top of the tongue during the USAB Training Camp in Las Vegas. The Hyperdunk+ Sport Pack in the Olympic colorway is scheduled to drop tomorrow at for $250.

This past weekend USA Basketball announced their final 12 man roster for the Summer Olympics to take place in London later this month. LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and three other Olympic gold medalists already were back. The complete roster includes Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Tyson Chandler, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Andre Iguodala. The USA national team is currently training in Las Vegas where they will continue to attend training camp till July 12th, after which they will play an exhibition game with the Dominican Republic. Some notable USA-inspired shoes were spotted during the team’s practice sessions. LeBron James sported both the Nike Lunar Hyperdunk 2012 and Nike Zoom Soldier VI.

There’s a handful of the new Lunar Hyperdunks available on the market, including the advertised Nike+ Basketball version in Black and Blue, but the most significant of all is the upcoming USA Basketball colorway. LeBron James and other members of the USA basketball team will be wearing these on court during the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London. This new Hyperdunk+ Sport Pack will be available on July 12th, 2012 at and other major Nike Basketball retailers for $250.
