Back in November we got a pretty good look at the Home version of the “University of Kentucky” LeBron 12 PE. Last night, LeBron James himself did the unveiling of the “Kentucky Wildcats” Away edition. His buddy Kyrie Irving, who’s just getting started on his first signature shoe from Nike, posted a new look of the Kyrie 1. There’s not much to tell here based on the overhead view, but seems like the LeBron 12 Kentucky Away may have broken the translucent outsole trend that’s been around for most of the 12’s thus far.

One of the most memorable Nike LeBron PE sightings I recall was a picture of John Wall’s Air Max LeBron VII Kentucky PE on a standard locker room stool with his name on it. The Wildcats’ newest LeBron 12 PEs surfaced the Internet a couple of days ago, but apart from the 12’s they also got a new version of the Soldier 8’s… pictured again on one of UK’s locker room stools. There are a couple of Blue and White colorways available for purchase, but what separates this pair is the white midfoot strap. Based on this one picture it’s hard to tell if the Wildcats’ logo is there somewhere, but seems like Nike walks away from putting schools’ logo on their Player Exclusive colorways.

The Kentucky Wildcats aren’t new to the Nike LeBron PE game. They’ve had a couple of interesting designs over the years with the highlight of the collection coming along with the Air Max LeBron VII. Last season they also wore many different LeBron 11’s in White and Blue, however, it’s not clear how many of their pairs were actually ID’ed and how many were issued by Nike Basketball. This season, the Wildcats received a clean White and Blue colorway of the Nike LeBron 12 and there’s no question it’s a PE due to the marking on the heel tab and the black Swoosh border, which can’t be used on Nike iD platform.

Michigan State and Kentucky met last night in the highly anticipated 2013 Champions Classic, and Nike Basketball has made sure that both teams were geared up and ready. We already saw the Wildcats debut their LeBron 11 PEs for the opening weekend, however, the MSU saved theirs for the main event. The Spartans got their LeBron XI’s styled in green with white Hyperposite and “Forging Iron” trim. Additionally, several players from the Duke Blue Devils squad also wore Nike LeBron shoes last night including a Blue LeBron XI “Forging Iron”, Black/Blue LeBron X PS and Blue, Black and White version of the Soldier VII. The new NCAA season has officially started, which means the return of the Wearing Brons segment. We’re looking for Nike LeBron 11 sightings and the Kentucky Wildcats basketball squad is the first to rock the new LeBron sig. The University of Kentucky is no stranger to personalized Nike LeBron shoes. This time they went with a simple White and Blue colorway of the Nike LeBron XI. With the limited exposure on James’ feet it’s good to see the shoes in action!Read the rest of this entry »
It took a while for the Away Player Exclusive version of the Nike LeBron 9 to surface in full detail. Fortunately it did, therefore we were able to complete the University of Kentucky collection page. Apart from Wildcats’ Home and Away PEs, Nike Basketball actually released the Away colorway last season, but without the school’s logo. The PE version sports the UK logo on the top of the tongue. Last week, the Kentucky Wildcats won their eighth national championship. None of the UK players wore the Nike LeBron 9 in the University of Kentucky colorway, but it must be nice for the fans, who have an opportunity to get the latest LeBron James’ shoes inspired by the current NCAA champion. At the beginning of the season Nike Basketball released three LeBron 9 colorways as a part of the University Pack, which had included Ohio State University, University of Miami, and University of Kentucky. The Wildcats version features Black & Royal upper with White outsole and swoosh. Too bad the released model doesn’t feature the official UK Basketball logo like the one placed on the official Player Exclusive styles, which again weren’t featured in the championship game. During the NBA Lockout LeBron James got a chance to display a couple of shoes that he normally couldn’t wear with the Miami Heat uniforms. Back in November, while participating in the Rudy Gay charity game, he wore the LEBRON 9 Kentucky Home PE. It’s one of two Player Exclusive shoes personalized for Wildcats’ basketball players for this season. UK’s home shoes are what you’d expect from a White and Blue colorway on the LBJ9, but the difference here is of course the school’s logo on the top of the tongue. This version is not available in stores, though.Read the rest of this entry »
