“Gator King” Nike LeBron 11 might win the title for the most intensive glow-in-the-dark mode among all sneakers. It’s definitely right up there… with your Yeezys or even the Soldier 7 Power Couple. The shoes glow without any extra “charging”… just leave them in daylight for a couple of moments and that’s basically it. Turns out there’s even more fun under black light. The shoe glow just as brightly, but the Gumbo graphics on the inner lining glow as well. Pretty cool.Read the rest of this entry »
Nike Basketball is paying tribute to the unique flavor of New Orleans with the 2014 NOLA Gumbo League Collection, including the LEBRON 11. Influenced by the flavors and stories of the Big Easy, Nike cooked up a bold mix of technical innovation, aesthetic flair and old-fashioned New Orleans traditions. Inspired by the fearsome alligator, the LeBron XI “Gator King” is a bold expression and a symbol of protection in New Orleans culture mirrored in graphic textures throughout the shoe. Invisible to the naked eye, hand-drawn patterns come to life as the Hyperposite bucket of the shoe glows in the dark. The shoes drop tomorrow so we take you through a very detailed look, which includes all elements… the shoes, the packaging and special glow in the dark effects.Read the rest of this entry »
Most of Nike LeBron XI colorways that were released so far were fairly easy to get. Of course there were exceptions like the Forging Iron… and… well that’s basically it! I don’t recall any other shoe being difficult to find… assuming you know where to look… and this includes the high demand shoes like BHM, Christmas and King’s Pride. Truth be told… we’ve had it much worse for the last couple of years. On that positive note we may need to become more alert for the upcoming release of the LEBRON 11 All-Star. It has all the qualities of a hypebeast shoe including a glow-in-the-dark upper. The price has already been increased by Nike (MSRP is $220) and hopefully you won’t have to pay more to get a pair. The “Gator King” LeBron XI is a very nice design and it would be a shame if fans were not allowed to fully enjoy the shoe.

Nike has improved the Nike iD platfrom a lot over the years. Today’s updates should satisfy all the nay-sayers in terms of the number of options available to customize the Nike LeBron XI. In the past in was difficult to use different colors in various sections of the shoe. Now you can color pretty much everything! You can style both swoosh logos and the tongue logo independently. You can also use different colors for the forefoot and heel portions of the outsole and even change the midfoot shank. Finally… you can mix the Chroma, Forging Iron, Graffiti, Speckle and Solid options altogether and if you like to glow there are five different glow-in-the-dark effects to use on the outsole. Actually it would be a lot easier to say what can’t be done because the possibilities for what can be done seem to be endless right now. Head over to nikestore.com and please try to prove me wrong. The Gumbo collection will be up for about 6 weeks, unless the materials run out sooner, but the biggest downside is the extended waiting period (up to 8 weeks).Read the rest of this entry »
Nike Basketball is paying tribute to the unique flavor of New Orleans with the 2014 NOLA Gumbo League Collection, including three shoes: LEBRON 11, KOBE 9 Elite and KD VI. A “gumbo” in the cultural sense, New Orleans is an eclectic mix of characters, music, cuisine and art. Inspired by the flavors and stories of the Big Easy, Nike cooked up a bold mix of technical innovation, aesthetic flair and old-fashioned New Orleans traditions for some of the world’s best basketball players: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. Inspired by the fearsome alligator, the king of the bayou, the LEBRON 11 Gator King is a bold expression of royalty and power. Gators, often a symbol of protection in New Orleans culture, influence graphic textures throughout the shoe. Invisible to the naked eye, hand-drawn patterns come to life as the Hyperposite bucket of the shoe glows in the dark. The musings of majestic color in deep purples, greens and gold are derived from the “Rex” – king of carnival celebrations. Leading the charge for Nike Basketball with special interior lining graphics is the LEBRON 11 Gator King including a commemorative tarot card and special edition box with purchase of each shoe. The 2014 NOLA Gumbo League Collection will be served up on nikestore.com and at select retail locations on February 14.Read the rest of this entry »
Back in August LeBron James asked a very important question… is it “retro time people?” when posting a photo of himself wearing the Air Zoom Generation “First Game”. Last night, he shared a pretty wild 1-of-1 version of the Zoom LeBron II with animal prints and tonight he’s back at it again. Following another game in New York he posted the Nike Zoom LeBron III, he’s going in the right order, in an unseen Black and White colorway with Glow in the Dark elements. Again, the shoes sport the new LeBron James’ signature logo, which means it’s a relatively new design. Is 2014 the year that we’re going to see the first Nike LeBron retro shoes? Would you like for the Swoosh to go in the original order, one shoe per year, or something similar to what they did with the Kobe Prelude pack?

It’s been over a week since we got a sneak peek at the All-Star edition of the Nike LeBron XI. From what I saw, other sneaker sites are still playing it safe and calling them simply the Glow in the Dark edition. For what it’s worth my sources have already confirmed these to be the new Allstar kicks and the colorway matches too: 647780-735 Cashmere/Green Glow-Purple Dynasty. This time we get a look at the Kids’ version, but fortunately we get to see more details including that GITD option and the insole tag, which says Gumbo – a dish that originated in southern Louisiana during the 18th century.Read the rest of this entry »
