The MVPuppets are everywhere these days. Check out Puppet LeBron and Puppet Kobe visiting the Rice vs Christ the King basketball game this past weekend. LeBron James and Dwight Howard filmed a new McDonald’s ad playing off the classic 1993 shooting showdown between Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. McDonald’s released a preview of the commercial last week, and the entire ad aired just before the Super Bowl kicked off tonight. Interestingly, the new version is a dunk contest instead of a shooting match. As a fun surprise, one of the original participants makes an appearance at the end. I gotta say the new version is hot. The chemistry between LeBron and Dwight is definitely there.

Filmed at Conseco Fieldhouse, the commercial is a spin on the famous “The Showdown” ad that Bird made with Michael Jordan. In that commercial, which first aired during the 1993 Super Bowl. James has made previous Super Bowl ads for Bubblicious and State Farm. Can you imagine McDonald’s Nike LeBron shoes?!
