Nike is set to release a “pinnacle high-end performance shoe with the style and premium quality expected in LeBron’s signature footwear” in 2012. Nike LeBron 9 P.S. “ELITE” Will Cost You $250 (MSRP) »

news lebron9 ps elite Nike LeBron 9 P.S. ELITE Will Cost You $250 (MSRP)

This year, the Nike LeBron 9 model adds $10 to the package and comes in at $170 MSRP. The LeBron 9 Low is priced at $150. We often get to see people paying much more for LeBrons when a limited colorway comes into play, but that’s when re-sellers are taking advantage and it’s only indirectly related to Nike. The Swoosh always sets itself the most ambitious of tasks, but I think they really need to justify the $100 jump in price with something that fans would really appreciate. Maybe with a new technology? We’ve already seen a preview of the 360 Zoom Max air bag, but the 9 P.S. is expected to sport a 180 Air Max / Zoom Air combo. Other shoes in Nike Sportswear have already come close to the $200 mark (f.e. Foamposite One), but $250 is definitely a record for a basketball shoe. According to Nike “The LeBron P.S. Elite is the pinnacle high-end performance shoe with the style and premium quality expected in LeBron’s signature footwear.” The list of colorways sounds interesting especially with no Miami Heat red or USA navy on the list. Be sure to read the whole article on the future of pricing at counterkicks.com. What’s your take on this situation?
