Wearing Brons: Nick Young Revisits AZG “First Game” »

Nick Young has brought some serious heat to the court this season. From Pennys and Foams to LeBrons. Earlier this month we mentioned about his Zoom LeBron II “Chamber of Fear” PEs, but last week he went back even further. Before the Los Angeles Clippers were swept by the San Antonio Spurs @NickSwagyPYoung broke out LeBron James’ first Nike shoe – the Air Zoom Generation – in the popular First Game colorway. The First Game AZG is in fact James’ first Home game shoe as a Cleveland Cavalier. See the 2003-04 Timeline for details.

Nike Air Zoom Generation “First Game” Gold Swoosh Sample »

The “1st GameNike Air Zoom Generation is the first colorway of LeBron James‘ first signature shoe. Technically, he broke them out a little bit later, but that’s how Nike wanted us to remember these limited AZG’s. The regular version, which was released in the quantity of about 1000 pairs, features White, Red and Navy colors. Turns out there’s an alternate version with Gold details. It’s been listed in our galleries for quite some time, but as this new photo surfaced the Internet it’s time to share it with the world. They kind of match with the Miami Heat team colors, don’t you think? These samples are probably super limited and chances of getting a pair are close to zero, but First Games, in any variation, are always nice to look at. We can always debate which one is the better colorway. Props to BronBronY23 for sharing.

Leaked: Nike Air Zoom Generation Prototype – White & Royal Blue »

Back in February we posted the first ever detailed look at the prototype version of the Nike Air Zoom Generation – LeBron James’ first signature shoe. It was the predominantly Black version. However, as it has been pointed out, there are several other colorways in the existence. Today we get a closer look at the White and Royal Blue prototype. Only one photo available, but it still is a very interesting design. Props to KDogLBJ23 for sharing.

LeBron Anatomy – Nike Air Zoom Generation Low Dissection »

The Mid version of the Nike Air Zoom Generation has already been cut into pieces. Now it’s time to see what’s inside the Low-tops. The main difference is, of course, lack of the Zoom Air unit in the forefoot. Additionally, there’s no Carbon Fiber midfoot plate, which is also expected with the usual budget approach to lows. What is the same is the Nike Air in the heel. Continue reading for more gruesome photos after the break.

Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Zoom Generation “Playoff” PE »

LeBron James didn’t make his Playoff debut until his third NBA season. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers were very close in 2004 and 2005, finishing on that unlucky ninth place (just missed ‘em). We all know that releasing sneakers in the right moment, to feed of the hype, requires a lot of advanced planning. That’s why sometimes there’s an All-Star Game shoe being made when it shouldn’t drop. Also, as it happened with the Soldier III, the Finals edition had to be scrapped for the same reason. Anyway… sometimes… we’re missing out big time. In 2004, Nike created a special Playoff make up of the Nike Air Zoom Generation. Back then a Playoff shoe was represented by a clean colorway of athlete’s signature shoe for the season, not necessary a completely new silhouette. Who knows… maybe we would have had that AZG #6 available in stores. It’s not like there where too many. All we can do now is appreciate this stylish Player Exclusive version via new photos posted below. Shout out to Sole Supreme.

Nike Air Zoom Generation Prototype – Black & White Wear Test »

The Nike Air Zoom Generation was LeBron James’ first signature shoe. Every time somebody asks LBJ about his favorite sneaker the answer is this “I think the first ones will always be my favorite,” Bron says. “Those are going to be classics, of course, because they’re my first shoe-just because it was the beginning of the whole thing, and something I always dreamed of when I was a kid-having a shoe with my name and initials on it. So the first one will always be the best.” With that said only a few of us know the AZG as we know and love it had [a different look] during the development period. While shots like [this] and [this] where the only source for this information several real photos have finally surfaced the Internet. What you see below is a prototype version of the Air Zoom Generation. It’s one of the Wear Test Samples. Notice how everything is different here… suede upper, the placement of the swoosh, the tongue and the outsole too. Check out all the photos after the break.

Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Zoom Generation L.A. All-Star PE »

If you ask LeBron James, which shoe in the Nike LBJ series is his favorite he will most likely say “gotta be the first one” or something in that manner. That was the answer for me when I submitted the question via the Nike Air Max LeBron VII Media Summit webcast back in August. Who wouldn’t be nostalgic about your first signature shoe, especially when you got one at the age of 18 years old! The Nike Air Zoom Generation was a perfect way to start things off. The shoes were rather safe… I wouldn’t like to ball in them nowadays, but there’s definitely more to it than plain design and decent ballin’ kicks. Even people at Nike were surprised with how well the AZG’s aka LeBron I’s were received by fans. The release of James’ shoe was the company’s most successful shoe launch in two years, surpassing that of the Jordan XVII and XVIII. At Finish Line, which at the moment of release had 541 stores across the country, 75 percent of their total nationwide allotment of James’ Air Zoom Generations were sold out in the first week of sales in late December (via ESPN). The initial release of LBJ’s shoe, in the black and white, has sold more than 100,000 pairs to date. Too bad the colorway you see below – the All-Star edition – never made it to public. It almost did, but just in the last minuted Nike pulled them off once they leanrt he didn’t make the squad. He was fourth in fan voting among guards in the Eastern Conference, but didn’t get voted in by the coaches. Couple nice pics after the break.

Throwback Thursday: Air Zoom Generation St. Vincent St. Mary PE »

It’s obvious LeBron James is very attached to his days spent at the Saint Vincent Saint Mary High School. There’s even a documentary “More Than a Game” telling the story of LeBron and his friends (Fab Five), which will premiere in October. There’s his recent book titled “Shooting Stars” written by Buzz Bissinger in King James’ voice. With the book, after the torrent of words from reporters and sportscasters, LeBron James takes control of the narrative. Also, it’s no secret that inspiration behind many of his signature shoes came straight from SVSM in Akron, Ohio. However, it’s not something entirely new. Sure, nowadays we get to buy LBJ’s White / Deep Forest Green / Gold kicks at retail, but at first they were customized exclusively for The King and nearly impossible to get for anyone else. So here it is… the shoe that started it all… the Nike Air Zoom Generation SVSM Player Exclusive.
