The Nike Lunar Hyperdunk+ is one of the most popular basketball shoes on the planet. Now, it is also the most technologically advanced. Today, Nike Hyperdunk+ was released and it offers big advancements in how you will be able to measure your game through Nike+. The 2012 Hyperdunk+ is the first basketball specific shoe to be equipped with the Nike+ technology that will begin to be featured on every athletic shoe from Nike. Between the Nike+ sensor below the insole of the shoe and the Nike+ app on your smart phone, you will now be able to measure your vertical and quickness (steps per second) while tracking your Nike Fuel number. Though he will not wear this colorway, LeBron James and other members of team USA Basketball will be wearing these on court during the Olympic Games in London. The Nike Hyperdunk+ Sport Pack released today, June 29th, at major Nike retailers for $250 and nikestore.com. Too bad these are exclusive to the US, UK, France and Germany. Sorry… the rest of the world.
The shoe itself also is much improved over the 2011 model. The latest Flywire technology contributes to the shoe’s support and keeps it lightweight. On the sides of the shoe the Flywire is exposed, the first time we’ve seen that from Nike. Under the Flywire is a newly designed foam upper that is covered in mesh. Foam keeps the shoe lightweight while allowing for a snug fit. The midsole is made out of Lunarlon cushioning, which we’re used to seeing on Nike running shoes. The cushioning has been redesigned to be basketball specific for the Hyperdunk. We can also see more mesh being incorporated into this design for increased breathability. The first colorway that the Hyperdunk+ will be released in is black/metallic silver/blue glow.
