Release Reminder: Nike LeBron 9 “Freegums” Drops Tomorrow »

Happy Birthday LeBron James! To commemorate his birthday, which is today, Nike is releasing the LeBron 9 Freegums on December 31st, 2011. The graphic art imagery, seen on the inner lining and toe box, was designed by Miami artist Alvaro Ilizarbe, also known as Freegums. Nike released 50 pairs in special boxes earlier this month to celebrate the artist, and now everyone can join in on the celebration. This is the 11th colorway for the Nike LeBron 9, which concludes 2011, but there are still many amazing styles slated for next year. The LeBron 9 Freegums will be available at all House of Hoops (including Europe) locations and most Foot Locker stores, and of course nikestore.com. The MSRP is $170 and they come in Men’s and Kids’ sizes. The retail version features LeBron’s white signature drawer box with Freegums’ special tissue paper. Detailed Look at Nike LeBron 9 “Kentucky Wildcats” Home PE »

During the NBA Lockout LeBron James got a chance to display a couple of shoes that he normally couldn’t wear with the Miami Heat uniforms. Back in November, while participating in the Rudy Gay charity game, he wore the LEBRON 9 Kentucky Home PE. It’s one of two Player Exclusive shoes personalized for Wildcats’ basketball players for this season. UK’s home shoes are what you’d expect from a White and Blue colorway on the LBJ9, but the difference here is of course the school’s logo on the top of the tongue. This version is not available in stores, though.

Throwback Thursday: LEBRON VII “Heroes Pack” Jordan PE »

One of the most intriguing stories focused on signature sneakers of the modern era was the so called “Heroes Pack” created for the Air Max LeBron VII. Designed by Jason Petrie and his team, the Heroes Pack was a tribute to LeBron James and his childhood idols – Deion Sanders, Penny Hardaway, and Michael Jordan. The Jordan pair was inspired by the Air Jordan XI, which judged by the recent events is still ultra-popular among sneakerheads. We can only imagine what it would be like if the LeBron X Jordan make up was actually released to public. Hopefully the Ken Griffey Jr’s won’t suffer a similar fate.
