Throwback Thursday: LBJ5 New York Yankees Signed by Spike Lee »

Those who have been following LeBron long enough, and even those who are new to the game, know about his special relationship with the city of New York. Since King James’ 4th season Nike debuts one or even more NYC themed kicks, each season. I like to think it has more to do with a high demand for kicks in the Big Apple more than LBJ’s desire to play for the Knicks. Let’s do some math. One ZLIV (Graffiti), Two ZLV’s (Yankees, Mr. Basketball), and Three ZLVI’s (White/Navy GR, Big Apple, Taxi). If Nike is going to follow up this pattern we can see a lot of NYC shoes in the upcoming months including this special low top version. So far we’ve had two (White/Navy, and MTAG NY). One of most memorable shoes from the group was definitely the New York Yankees edition, which was the first one to reach the public on a large scale. For our last post in 2009, let’s take a closer look at this special make up featuring Spike Lee’s autograph, who’s been know to wear a lot of LeBron James’ sneakers. Happy New Year!!!

Another Game. Another Shoe. LeBron Drops 48 on 25th Birthday. »

LeBron James had a big bash to celebrate his 25th birthday. Anderson Varejao delivered his gift before the party started. Varejao made his first career 3-pointer with 17.2 seconds left – as the 24-second shot clock was about to expire – to give Cleveland a disputed 106-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, the Cavaliers’ 11th victory in 12 games. Birthday Oh Boy! LeBron James scored the third most points of a player on his birthday in NBA history on Wednesday. James ended up with a season-high 48 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Cavs, but the MVP would have dropped to 0-4 in games on his birthday if not for Varejao. Other bday milestones:

  • Shaquille O’Neal, 2000 – 61 pts – born: 03/06/72.
  • Dominique Wilkins, 1987 – 53 pts – born: 01/12/60.
  • LeBron James, 2009 – 48 pts – born: 12/30/84.
  • Michael Jordan, 1992 – 46 pts – born: 02/17/63.

“That’s a great gift,” James said. “I had Andy in the gift exchange and so he paid me back. That’s what friends are for.” The shot was initially ruled a 2-pointer, but after reviewing the bucket on video, the officiating crew determined that Varejao’s feet were behind the line. After debuting the Black/White/Gold edition of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII in their previous game, King James sported yet another colorway of his newest Nike shoes. The White/Red version is a perfect match with Cavaliers’ Home uniforms, of course. You can find them in selected stores (NikeTowns) or order online at Eastbay or even pre-order below retail at shoetrends.com. Click here to see all of LBJ’s 2009-10 NBA Kicks… eleven different colorways so far.

King James Debuts Black/White/Gold LBJ7 as Cavs Sink Hawks »

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers generated a playoff-like atmosphere at Philips Arena. The bad news for the Atlanta Hawks was that a disastrous fourth quarter made the game feel like last year’s four straight playoff losses to the Cavaliers. Cleveland has held three straight opponents under 90 points. “That’s what we do,” James said. “It’s an ongoing thing. Defensively, we lock down in the fourth quarter. That’s where games are won. That’s where games are decided.” James didn’t shoot the ball well… he had 14 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds and five steals but made only 6-of-20 shots from the field. Both teams will play again tonight at the Q. King James debuted yet another colorway of his latest signature shoes – Nike Air Max LeBron VII. It was a Black/White/Gold edition, which is scheduled to be released on February 16th, 2009. Btw… HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEBRON JAMES!!!

Wearing Brons – Fairfax High School Debuts the Zoom Soldier III PE »

This year Nike released four school Nike Zoom Soldier III’s including SVSM, CTK, AU and OSU… all in Home colorways. Recently we profiled the ZSIII Away Player Exclusive as well, but other variations are yet to be seen. This leaves us with the Fairfax edition, which for the past couple years has been reserved for Fairfax Lions players only. Actually, none of their shoes have been released to public since the Zoom Soldier I. With the new season in full swing the Away edition of the Soldier III has been spotted on court. It’s weird too see them wearing Away shoes with Home uniforms, but I guess they didn’t get them yet.

Nike Air Max LeBron VII Low Summit Lake Hornets Sample Version »

With the debut of the Summit Lake Hornets theme along the release of this Zoom Soldier II Special Make Up Nike has established a new tradition. The Summit Lake Hornets was LeBron James’ first team where he played organized basketball. We also got the Zoom LeBron VI and Zoom LBJ Ambassador featuring the SLH colors. One of upcoming samples of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII Low seems to continue the new trend. It features White, Purple and Aqua colors complemented with a Light Grey upper. This time there are no ?’s as the regular L23 logo sits proudly on the insole. Would you like these shoes to release?

Sport Red/Royal/White Sample Version of Air Max LeBron VII Low »

Following the NYC themed Nike Air Max LeBron VII Low, we present yet another colorway of the upcoming LeBron James shoe, which is said to be released in 2010. This time it’s a Sport Red/Royal/White style with the same question mark pattern all over the shoe. The logo on the outsole reads 1,653,715,000, but we can’t figure out the meaning of it. Maybe it’s a reference to another team that could land King James during the 2010 Free Agency. Speculations are endless, but the shoes look nice, don’t you think? Any ideas about the significance of the new logo and numbers?

Nike Air Max LeBron VII Low New York City Sample Colorway »

This season LeBron James and Nike introduced a special Hardwood Classic edition of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII. Those, who are not familiar with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ history might mistake it for a New York Knicks themed shoe. The one you see below, on the other hand, sends a clear message. It’s the same Royal Blue/Orange Blaze colorway, but this time with the I “LOVE” NYC on the outsole and a L23 logo styled question mark on the insole there’s no doubt what’s the real inspiration. We’re not trying to add more fuel to the LeBron 2010 debate, but these new photos featuring one of LBJ’s upcoming sneakers – Nike Air Max LeBron VII Low – have just hit the Internet. Apart from the background message, what do you think about LeBron’s new low-top?
